History

History of Alianza Lima de Maryland

Alianza Lima de MD was founded on August 4, 1985. Initially it was called Alianza Trujillo in honor of my wife's birth city. Our club began playing in the Fall of 1985 in the Montgomery County Soccer League, in that same year we moved to the Washington Metropolitan Soccer League. The following year we played in the National Soccer League where we played against high level teams like D.C. United, Club España and Condores de Chile, all the games were played in RFK stadium.

The best team in the league would have to be Atletico Peru who had players Jorge Charun and Eladio Reyes who played in the 1970 World Cup. The club always played in local leagues after but we moved to youth soccer in the mid 90's. We returned to adult leagues in 1998 and we played in La Liga Internacional de MD and La Liga de MD, currently we are playing in the Marcelo Cardenas de Germantown Soccer League.

I would like to mention that in the 25 years that we have been playing we have only been champions once which was in 2006. I feel very proud of and happy to have formed the team that I love and to be from "La Victoria" the barrio where Alianza Lima is from. I would also like to make an honorable mention to Jose Cresimbeni, player of the Peruvian national youth team and Atletico Chalaco and my three sons Alberto, Edie and Earl.
